Today marked my last day of a hot shower in Tanzania. We’re staying in a place called Lushoto, which is about 5-8 hours (by bus) north of Dar es Salaam. It’s a lovely little place where the grass is green, the dirt is red, there are hills and “mountains” in the distance, and, most importantly, the WEATHER is COOL!!! The first day of refreshment came as we hiked around a bit without even working up a sweat. Coming from a city where you get more cold water from the pipes in your house (for the first three minutes of a shower) than you can from the water tank on top of the roof… and where you continue sweating throughout the semi-“cold” shower experience, we were thrilled at the opportunity for a cooler climate, COLD rain, and a delightful HOT shower at the end of each day that actually felt good.
I will remember this day for many months to come… :)
